The National Director reports directly to the Executive Director of the CCF and is responsible for overseeing all of Runnymede\u2019s programs and operations, including:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f318cb3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f318cb3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li aria-level=\"1\">Overseeing Runnymede\u2019s student chapter program at 18+ law schools and universities across Canada; assisting students with planning events by coordinating speaker invitations and suggesting timely topics<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Planning and executing Runnymede\u2019s annual Law &amp; Freedom national conference by scheduling panels and coordinating speakers<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Promoting original legal research on the topics of constitutionalism, fundamental freedoms and the rule of law, including the planning of Runnymede\u2019s annual academic symposium and volume<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Serving as Managing Editor of Runnymede\u2019s annual journal, the <i>Dicey Law Review<\/i>, which is set to be co-published with LexisNexis and Advocates for the Rule of Law as two virtual issues (subsequently compiled in one print volume) beginning in 2025<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Overseeing Runnymede\u2019s lawyer chapter program in eight major cities across Canada (<i>i.e.<\/i>, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and St. John\u2019s)<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Producing and hosting the <i>Runnymede Radio <\/i>podcast, including soliciting guests for interviews on timely subjects<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Updating and expanding Runnymede\u2019s virtual archive of past event recordings, to be available exclusively for members on forthcoming online portal<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Fostering strategic partnerships with like-minded lawyers, scholars, and organizations<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Expanding Runnymede\u2019s network of dues-paying members and stakeholders<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Reporting to Runnymede\u2019s donors on a regular basis as to our activities, and pursuing leads for new grants and funding opportunities<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5ba358b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5ba358b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The above responsibilities will be executed through a combination of the National Director\u2019s direct initiative and by delegating and overseeing the completion of these tasks to student\/lawyer volunteers and staff members, including Runnymede\u2019s full-time Operations and Communications Director and part-time Scholar-in-Residence.<\/p><p>The ideal applicant will have at least an undergraduate law degree (<i>i.e.<\/i>, JD or LLB) and 1-3 years\u2019 experience in legal practice or academia, although this is not a firm requirement. Strong oral and written communication skills, self-motivation, original thinking, and awareness of and commitment to Runnymede\u2019s core values of constitutionalism, fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law are essential.<\/p><p>Compensation is competitive and based on the candidate\u2019s level of experience, with an opportunity to receive an additional bonus upon the completion of key performance objectives. The job will involve regular travel, mostly within Canada.
