We are pleased to invite you to join the Dalhousie Runnymede Society, the Schulich Law & Technology Society, and the Schulich Tax and Financial Law Association for an exciting discussion between\u00a0Xavier Foccroulle M\u00e9nard, a banking and finance expert lawyer with\u00a0Stikeman Elliott LLP and\u00a0Doug Harris,\u00a0General Counsel, Director of Policy and Market Regulation and Secretary to the\u00a0Nova Scotia Securities Commission.\u00a0The discussion will be moderated by Brendan Peters, Partner at Delex LLP. This event will introduce law students to some of the legal issues involved with Cryptocurrency and Decentralized Finance in practice. We will talk about benefits, limitations, and concerns of regulating these emerging these areas, as well as discussing the positive applications of emerging financial technologies and innovations, and the extent (if any) to which the public needs to be protected from novel financial innovations.<\/p>\n
