Our goal is to foster and encourage open and balanced debate about the fundamental principles of the rule of law, constitutionalism, and liberty in law schools across Canada. We are a thriving new organization with student chapters at law schools across the country. Whether as a student, lawyer, or friend, we hope you’ll join us.

We offer the following opportunities for our members:

Intellectual Enrichment

We provide funding for debates, symposia, and panel discussions with external speakers and refreshments. We are able to assist with reaching out to speakers and fund out-of-town speaker travel expenses.

We also fund the costs of food and reading materials for student-organized reading groups.

Professional Networking

Join a group of intellectually committed and rigorous lawyers. In addition to the networks across Canada developed through Runnymede Society trainings and events, we have partnered with Advocates for the Rule of Law (www.ruleoflaw.ca), a Canadian think tank comprised of practicing lawyers dedicated to the rule of law in Canada and abroad.

Academic Mentoring

We aim to connect first-year students with upper-years who can provide mentorship and academic guidance, as well as course summaries.

Publishing Opportunities

Runnymede Society members will be linked to opportunities to write and publish their legal commentaries.

Litigation Assistance

Members will be connected with opportunities to assist with litigation for affiliated organizations.

Social Life

We host regular networking events with local members of the legal profession, academics, journalists, and other students
