Please join the Runnymede Society’s Dalhousie-Schulich Student Chapter for a debate on the constitutional justifiability of Alberta secession between Professor Bruce Pardy (Queen’s) and Professor Brian Casey (Dalhousie-Schulich) on Thursday, October 30th!

Alberta’s separatist movement has gained momentum with the province lowering its referendum petition threshold to just 10%. Profs. Pardy and Casey will debate the resolution: “Alberta’s pursuit of separation from Canada is constitutionally permissible under Reference re Secession of Quebec [1998], but unjustified due to its impact on federalism and Indigenous treaty rights.”
