November 17, 2025 | 12:30 pm
UBC Allard Finch
Theme(s): Legal Ethics

Please join the Runnymede Society’s UBC Allard Chapter for an insightful conversation about the lawyer’s professional duty to represent clients and causes that may be unpopular with W. Martin Finch, K.C. (Baker Newby LLP) on Monday, November 17th!

Mr. Finch will reflect on why the principles of legal ethics and the independence of the bar demand that even the least sympathetic clients receive a full and fair defence. Drawing on decades of criminal and civil practice, he will share his perspective on how lawyers can remain true to their professional obligations when advocacy challenges personal convictions and how to manage external pressures while maintaining integrity and the rule of law.
