Support the Runnymede Society!

The Runnymede Society exists to promote the principles of constitutionalism, fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law. Our non-partisan Society serves as a vital forum for intellectual diversity in the Canadian legal academic and profession.

By donating to the Canadian Constitution Foundation (CCF) here, you are directly funding the Runnymede Society‘s mission to sharpen and broaden the legal discourse in Canada and to provide substantial support to law students and practitioners for intellectual enrichment and professional development. As a project of the CCF, the Runnymede Society is entirely funded by charitable donations by Canadians just like you. We do not receive any government funding. Please note that contributions are independent of membership dues.

Official tax receipts are issued by the CCF for donations of $25 or more. The CCF’s charitable registration number is 86617 6654 RR0001. Donations made in-person or by cheque should be made out to the “Canadian Constitution Foundation” and accompanied by a memo that indicates you would like us to earmark your gift towards Runnymede Society activities. All donors have the option to remain anonymous.

Our Programs

1. Student Chapters

Every year, we bring together law student volunteers to host events in law schools across Canada that challenge the culture of self-censorship that many law schools have cultivated.

2. Lawyer Chapters

Our lawyer chapters gather lawyers in cities across Canada to host thought-provoking events that strengthen and expand the Runnymede network.

3. Scholarships and Fellowships

Every year, we offer the Blackstone Prize and Jack Major Graduate Fellowship to support legal academics committed to the principles of constitutionalism, fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law.

4. Law & Freedom

Our annual conference attracts over 200 scholars, lawyers, and law students to hear from some of the brightest minds in Canada’s legal community on the most pressing issues relating to constitutionalism, fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law.

5. Dicey Law Review

Produced in collaboration between the Runnymede Society and Advocates for the Rule of Law, the Dicey Law Review provides scholarly articles focused on constitutionalism and the rule of law every year. Some articles are jointly published in the Supreme Court Law Review.
