Please join our SUO Runnymede Society Chapter at UBCO for a debate with Prof. Renaud-Philippe Garner (UBCO) and Prof. Adam Jones (UBCO), on Tuesday, March 10th.

Nearly four decades after the end of the Cold War, the international system is once again marked by rising geopolitical tensions. As conflicts and rivalries intensify, an important question emerges: Does international law still meaningfully shape global politics?

Prof. Jones will argue that international law remains an important framework for promoting accountability and protecting states. Prof. Garner will argue that, lacking effective enforcement mechanisms, international law has limited power to prevent armed conflict.
