Please join the Runnymede Society’s Humber Polytechnic Chapter for a panel discussion reflecting on the legal, constitutional, and social implications of Bill C-16 nearly a decade after its enactment, with Mia Hughes (Macdonald-Laurier Institute) and Jared Brown (Brown Litigation), on Friday, April 24th.
Nearly ten years after Bill C-16 amended the Canadian Human Rights Act and Criminal Code to include “gender identity or expression” as a protected ground, this panel will revisit its impact in law and society. Speakers will examine whether the legislation has struck an appropriate balance between protecting individuals from discrimination and preserving freedom of expression.
